Recap of the Winter Holiday

We had a wonderful winter holiday together in U.S. The almost two-week trip was refreshing. I agreed with Hugo that it's like a concentrated version of my newly-wed golden 4 months. (As you may recalled, I've been a full-time housewife for four months after marriage.)

Christmas @ New York

As we wished to experience the festive mood and to have a good rest after the long flight, we chose to stay in New York at X'mas Eve. We stayed at Park Central Hotel near Time's Square. Perhaps the economy is really cramped, we managed to have a rather good deal - not more than $200 - for one night stay, a valet parking and a full-breakfast. We were happy to have Pavi with us at X'mas eve. We had dinner together and had a nice chat.

Next day (25th Dec), we had an after-breakfast walk @ the nearby Central Park and Time Square. Not many shops were opened so we did not spend much $$ luckily. I have thought of watching a Broadway Show or gone up the Empire building but the queue was so long at the TKTS booth and I dropped the idea of visiting other tourist's spots as I thought there'd be long queues everywhere. We took picture with the Rockefeller Christmas Tree and had some window-shopping around Time-Square and then commenced our way back home.

Boxing Day Ski Trip @ Vermont - Okemo Mountain

I was excited about the ski trip....I know it's impossible to be a great skier after 1-day lesson, but I wished I could at least enjoy the 'lift'ride - I long for. We have joined a 2-sessions-beginner course.

The breakfast at Victoria Inn was too nice and made us forget the time-keeping. We're late for the a.m. session and by the time we reached the assembly point, the lesson had already started 40 minutes. Fortunately, they 'upgraded' us to a private teaching session. The instructor was nice and patient. We managed to keep a good balance and try the baby-level slope after 2 hrs.

The instructor said it's less crowded as expected at Okemo for the time being. This again proofs that the economy of U.S is really getting worse and worse.

We also did another exciting thing on the snow besides skiing -- That is the Sleigh Ride. It takes about 30 mins to drive from Victoria Inn to the countryside nearby. The little town was really so beautiful and marked a perfect full-stop to our first ski trip.
